An Otter’s life for me!

Every time I go to the zoo, I look forward to seeing the otters. They look like they have so much fun, swimming around all day long, playing with their otter friends, and lazily floating on their backs eating delicious clams. Despite being in cold water, they always look like they’re having fun. I love clams, playing with friends, and swimming, so it makes perfect sense that I’d love to be an otter, if for no other reason than just to live the carefree life. Everyone loves otters. People think they’re cute and playful, and everyone secretly wants to be one.

My Beer

I’d love one day to have my own brewery. Colorado is known for their microbrews, but there’s always room for one more. I’d love to be able to come up with a beer that nobody else has had before and become famous for it. I’d love to have my specific beer known the world over simply by name. More than that, I want it to taste good. I want people to crave my beer. I want people to wonder “what is he going to make next?” The knowledge that I’m doing something I love to the delight of many others is worth so much more than money.

Family really is the most important thing.

More than anything, my family means a lot to me. They’ve always been a great support group through the lows of life, but also have been there to share the good times with. As kids, my brother and sister and I had a lot of fun together. We didn’t have a lot of money, so imagination was a key part of life. That imagination continues on to this day. When I’m with my siblings, there isn’t a period of time where we’re not laughing with tears in our eyes. My mom has always done her best to raise the three of us, and now that we’re all adults, I’d say she did a great job.

The holidays are meant for relaxing.

I visited family and friends in Seattle for Thanksgiving, but Christmas is destined to be a much more relaxing time. I plan on staying in Colorado with a small group of friends and just having a low-key holiday. We’ll probably start the day with a Christmas mimosa, which has become more of a tradition than anything, then watch a few holiday movies, and that night cook a delicious dinner. As the theatres are open on Christmas day, I may head out to catch a movie too. Bottom line: I plan on taking it easy this Christmas with friends. It’ll be a much needed break from the everyday hustle and bustle.

Good times are the best times.

Generally a good time is when I can just spend time with friends. We end up doing any number of things, from playing Tennis, to Frisbee golf, to hiking. Of course, dinner and a movie are also always on the table. When I’m looking for a relaxing time alone, I’ll cozy up on the couch with a good book, and get lost in any number of worlds. If it’s something more constructive I’m looking for, I’m always excited to brew a batch of homebrewed beer. That’s the one time I can truly express my creativity while at the same time experimenting with new flavors and ideas.

Books, Clothes, and more books, that’s what I shop for!

When payday rolls around, and all my bills are paid, there are a few extra things I like to do with my money. Besides the occasional happy hour or night out on the town, I enjoy going to Barnes & Noble to pick up a new book. Also, I like the sales they have at Old Navy, especially in the winter time. Also, I shop at goodwill quite a bit. You never know the great things that you’ll find when perusing the aisles. It’s a great place to find cookware, and an even better place to find books for cheap! During the holiday season though, it’s tough to avoid shopping anywhere. The specials are too good to pass up.

Apparently I now like the winter!

Aspen, Colorado. Early morning after a blizzar...

I used to hate winter. Winter in Seattle is full of grey, wet, cold and dark days. If it ever snows, it seems as if the world shuts down. The hills make it impossible to get around, so you’re stuck at home to develop a case of cabin fever. Now, however, I live in Colorado, where already, we’ve gotten a cumulative 4 feet of snow. The temps are very cold, but amazingly everyone is in good spirits. They know how to treat the roads here, and the lack of hills makes navigation very simple. When it’s not snowing, it’s clear blue skies as far as the eyes can see. Suffice it to say, my views of winter have changed substantially. It’s no longer something I dread, but truly enjoy.

Avoiding Fires

So to avoid yourself from being a fire victim you must know how to operate a cheap powder fire extinguisher. It’s a metallic cylinder usually red in color symbolizing emergence. To the top of it is a valve to the inner cylinder containing the compressed gas (air or nitrogen)? In case of fire, the safety pin of the is to be removed and the lever is to be pressed. This requires sufficient force. By this the anti-fire agent is oozed in high pressure.

Thursday is Friday junior!

I’ve always seen Thursday as a good day, and today is no exception. Despite it being barely above 0 degrees outside, it’s a clear day. There’s snow on the ground, and it just feels like a nice day. Work is going well, and I’m grateful that the weekend is nearly upon me. I haven’t been too busy today, which is always a nice thing, and I’m generally in a good mood. I slept well last night, and the cold that I’ve been fighting for about 3 weeks is finally almost completely gone! Tonight, it’s happy hour with the friends, and it’s the unofficial start of the weekend, which is why I’ve affectionately called Thursday Friday Junior.
